ECO-SCHOOL News: WE EARNED GOLD CERTIFICATION AND…

St. Daniel earned GOLD certification as an eco-school last year and we want to earn that certification again this year.

We hope to continue to build on our recycling, composting, gardening and curriculum work.

We need your help in sending lunches with as little to no garbage as possible and to encourage your children to boomerang the lunch home (bring any garbage home). We will ask students to send garbage home and recycle and compost what is possible, at school.

We need your help in ensuring your child does not bring plastic water bottles to school, but uses reusable water bottles here at school. We have refillable stations that they can use to refill their bottles throughout the day.

If any of you have a green thumb, would enjoy getting our gardens ready for the fall or want to work with our team, please let me know.

Thanks for your continued support as we go for gold again.

Your GREEN TEAM at St. Daniel.

St. Marys High School NEEDS us to Vote: Read More Here!!!!

St. Mary’s High School has entered the Aviva Community Fund competition with plans to transform the tennis surface with a Mateflex court system. This multipurpose court will be suitable for basketball, tennis, ball hockey, pickleball and a variety of other community events. This facility will be accessible to a wide range of user groups where everyone can gather, play, and learn.

Most of our students will attend St. Marys, so let’s support this awesome opportunity.

Terry Fox Walk Tomorrow

Good evening Tbird Families.

Tomorrow we walk as a school community for cancer. If it is only raining, like today, we will still do our walk so please dress appropriately for the weather. If it is a thunderstorm or lightening we will postpone.

Stay tuned for an update tomorrow morning.

Please consider donating a toonie to the cause.

Thanks for your continued support as we teach our children about the importance of creating awareness for an important cause.

Week at a Glance; New Teacher Hired

Good morning Thunderbird families.

It is with great pleasure that I share with you that we have hired a teacher for this year for the Grade 4/5 class. Mrs. Hawley who has been our supply teacher was hired yesterday.  She is very excited to be here at St. Daniel. She will be sharing a letter home to all families in her class today. Please welcome her to our school community.

This week we have:

The Terry Fox Walk tomorrow morning- share your toonies with your classroom teacher.

Picture Day on Friday- wear those smiles Tbirds.

Our first Fire Drill will also happen on Friday and our 3 Pitch Tournament for our Intermediate students.

Have a terrific week Tbirds.

Carizon Support here at St. Daniel. An Amazing Service for Parents.

We have a wonderful resource available to us at St. Daniel through Carizon.

If you are looking for support for your child’s behaviour; accessing and navigating resources from the community (financial, mental health, social/emotional struggles, counselling or recreation); home support for routines and structures; understanding a recent diagnosis and needing strategies to manage or accessing parent workshops…please give Lauren a text, call or email.

Her contact information is: Lauren Portengen at 226-338-7455.  Her email is lportengen@carizon.ca

All meetings take place at the school in a private setting.

This is an outstanding resource and free support for our families.  Please let me know if I can help in any way.

Sincerely,

Lorrie Temple

Principal at St. Daniel
