Principal’s Message 2017-08-17T09:37:25+00:00

Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year Thunderbirds!

On behalf of the entire school community we would like to welcome you back and extend a warm welcome to all our new families. Last year, we learned a lot, celebrated our faith, participated in clubs and team, supported one another, raised funds for local charities and had a great deal of fun. We are looking forward to another outstanding year.

St. Daniel’s teachers will continue their professional development in regards to numeracy and as a staff, we will be embracing the theme of “Daring Greatly”.  We will also continue our work with Growth Mindset. We encourage you to ask your students about their math learning, and about their developing growth mindsets. We enjoyed our time learning together at Math Night and look forward to our Coding event next March, 2018.

Growth Mindset is an important tool to develop for each one of us. Having a growth mindset helps us have an open to learning stance. We can train our brains to be focused on what we can do, what the possibilities are, and what we need to work on to learn something new or master a skill.  Hope is a terrific mindset trait to have. It allows us to zoom in on the possibilities within each of us to reach our full potential as God has planned for us. We will continue as People of Hope and work on strengthening our mindset, while focusing on creating and sustaining a strong culture of learning built with trust and teamwork.

We have added 2 new water filling stations to our halls; a pergola to our SK/JK yard; furniture and a colourful rug to the library; brand new sound system; technology tables and learning tables in our Intermediate division; texts and math resources across our Primary and Junior Divisions and this year we will continue our work in the JK/SK area and the Learning Commons space. Most of these additions were made possible by our amazing School Council and their fundraising initiatives, along with various grants that were applied for and secured. I am truly blessed to serve alongside a wonderful, supportive staff.  The St. Daniel Community is AWESOME!

Thank you for your continued support as partners in your child’s learning. May God continue to bless us this upcoming school year.

Yours in Faith,

Lorrie Temple
