The LENTEN Season is Upon Us!

This year Ash Wednesday, falls on Valentine’s Day, which also is the first day of Lent.  At St. Daniel, we will recognize this solemn occasion with the sharing of Ashes through our Ash Wednesday Liturgy at 9:30 am.  We will engage in many conversations throughout the day in regards to the fact that the season of Lent is a journey which leads us to the ultimate example of God’s LOVE for us in Jesus’ death on the cross.

Throughout the 40 days, we will be running a hat and sock drive as part of our Lenten outreach which is led by our outstanding We Team. We are also focusing on doing something for Lent, rather than giving something up, with our focus on being healthy this Lent. Be sure to ask your son/daughter about the class challenges for the Lenten season.

Students will be asked to share their Lenten Promises on foot prints that will decorate our Faith bulletin board at the front of the school.  The idea of walking with and journeying through Lent together with Christ.

We will be marking Holy Thursday with a Bread Liturgy at 2:30 and celebrating the Resurrection of Our Lord, on Tuesday, April 2 at 9:30 am.

Thank you for respecting our traditions this Wednesday and during the entire season of Lent.

School Yard Reminders…

The supervisors at St. Daniel must do our best to ensure that students are safe always.  We need your help in reminding our students to follow the expected and appropriate behaviour on the playground so that we are all working to create a safe school environment.

Snow and Ice…

The cold months are upon us and there is a lot of snow and ice on our field. Students are reminded that throwing snow, snowballs, ice or kicking snow is NOT permitted.  In order for our school to be as safe as possible, the SCHOOL RULE must be that snow and ice stays on the ground.

Dressing for Winter…

Just a gentle reminder that students should be continuing to dress warmly for outdoor recesses. Except when the weather is extremely cold or wet, the students will be going outside of recess and lunch periods.  All students should have coats, hats, mittens, scarves and warm boots.  Please provide a pair of indoor shoes as students are required to wear footwear at all times.  Please remember that children who are too ill to go outside, should be resting at home.

 Inclement Weather Policy

Please continue to support us in creating a caring and safe school yard by speaking with your child(ren) about these important rules and policies.
