Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year!!!

The staff of St. Daniel is excited to begin another school year and to welcome you back from the summer. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new families as well as new and returning staff for the 2018-2019 school year.  Please welcome Mrs. Del Rosario, Ms. Mazurek, Ms. Kirby, Ms. Gribbon-McGraw, Ms. Ott, Ms. Nogueira, Ms. Myers, Ms. Murphy-Brooks, Ms. Nowak and Ms. Wagner to our staff and to Ms. McLaughlin and Ms. Perez, who are not new to us, but are returning in different roles.  We continue to grow and added another portable and a new  Grade ½ class.

The St. Daniel staff teach and lead as role models in the Christian faith by promoting Gospel values and the Sacraments in a faith-centred community.  We set high expectations that we know we all can obtain and we work hard to support our students as they achieve success.  We strive to create an accepting, inclusive environment where each person can embrace and share their God given gifts and talents to reach their full potential as God intended.  We are truly blessed to be located right beside St. Anthony Daniel Church and we celebrate a special relationship with the Parish.  Our school also benefits from a unique relationship with the City of Kitchener as we are attached to Stanley Park Community Centre and have access to an amazing gymnasium.

Communication is important as we work together for success and in this regard, I will be sharing important information, day to day events and big celebrations, via Twitter, the school website, as well sharing all information and upcoming events on our Newswire.  We are paperless as much as possible, supporting our Gold Eco-School Certification. We are encouraging all our community members, friends and families to register for Newswire via our St. Daniel website to receive our “news”.  Please see us in the main office if you have any concerns. We are also going “cashless” as much as possible and all funds to the school can be paid through Cash Online.  This is also an avenue to access trip forms and permission forms. Again, Mrs. Rossiter, our terrific Administrative Assistant, can help you with that if you need this support.

We had some new changes to our school over the past year/summer. Our learning commons had a big renovation with new furniture and shelves added, and our yard has been graced with new gardens that have been growing a lot over the summer. Special thanks to the staff and families who tended to them over the summer months.

This year we will be working together to further develop a culture of learning through a focus on the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations, the Fish Philosophy, Growth Mindset, and teamwork.  We hope to have your support in helping your son/daughter explore and develop these ideas at home.

Finally, I would like to thank the staff, students, families and the Parish for all their hard work, dedication and support which have helped make our school community a very special place.  I truly look forward to working with all of you to best support the students of St. Daniel as they continue to grow in faith and become life-long learners.  I invite you out to our Meet the Teacher Night on September 11th.  More information will be sent out, tweeted and shared on our website regarding this fun event. May God bless us and help us share our many special gifts with one another to make this the most fantastic year ever.

Yours in Faith,

Lorrie Temple
