St. Daniel staff applied for the Healthy Kids, Community Challenge Grant through the Community of Waterloo. Our grant centred around being SCREEN FREE. Mfs. Neira did a wonderful job with the application and we secured this grant. YAHOO!
Starting with Neighbour’s Day this Saturday, we are encouraging students to try and limit their screen time. This could be a great challenge for all family members to participate in as well. We are encouraging families to come out and participate in some fun events at the Stanley Park Community Centre. There will be a bike rodeo, ball hockey tournament and other events, this Saturday, June 9th starting at 9am. The church is having a big Garage Sale and our students are singing at the Community Center at 10am. Ms. Neira and Mrs. Temple have a book give away or book exchange happening as well in the laneway. Come on out!!!
During the 2 week challenge, we have weekly prizes for students attempting to be screen free; art activities at recesses; board games to be played; door decorating and Lacrosse Day for our Junior classes on June 25th. All students will also earn a FREE community lunch on June 25th. More information to come on the lunch.
Please see this link for a full calendar of events and encourage your children to try to limit their screen time. It is a great time of year to get outside and play! Go Thunderbirds.
